We were uprooted from our soils and planted in new ones. We took our time to adjust and started growing back at our own pace—some faster than others. This new soil isn’t bad; we’re growing alongside new saplings, some pleasant, some not, but we’re adjusting to this new place. Maybe this is what change feels like—being uprooted from one soil and planted into another. Just like little saplings, some of us flourish in the new environment with time, while others don’t. We reach a stage where we’re no longer saplings, and we become trees. We start establishing our roots in one place and strengthen them with time.
Dear readers,
I wanted to write about change and growth, think about the new soil as a metaphor for a new environment, like graduating highschool and joining college, or getting a job, we learn to grow into new environments until we reach a stage where we become trees, trees here signifies adulthood where we start establishing our roots.
What inspired me-
I changed schools and I was talking to an old friend and I had this idea to write something about change.
Also here’s a thing about change, when you’re uprooted from one soil, and planted into a new one, you’ll ache for the old one sometimes, even while you’re enjoying the new one. Maybe it’s human nature or maybe it’s just me, but I love my new school but some part of me still misses my old one, mostly the feeling of being close to home, the familiarity of the space and old friends that I miss. Having a school that’s close to home can be so time saving and also emotionally comforting in some way, I’ve to travel alone for more than an hour to reach my current one, but well I made a choice and it’s for the best. Also, yes I’m flourishing in this new soil, I really am, I’ve made so much progress and grown so much, the proof being the fact that I’m writing this. I’m utterly grateful for the opportunities I was given.
Dedicated to fellow students like me, I hope you could feel something reading this, and I hope you know that you’re not alone.
